    The Retail Store Assistant General Manager is responsible for driving revenue by providing our customers with outstanding customer service and helpful product knowledge, building individual customer relationships, and presenting a clean, safe, and well-maintained store environment. The Floor Manager is also responsible for assisting the General Manager with day-to-day activities of the store.


    • Train and supervise hourly associates in product knowledge, sales techniques, and day-to-day operations of the store.
    • Coordinate staff duties and daily tasks such as labeling all non-scan products, implementing price changes, restocking, processing shipments, and ensuring all product has the appropriate shelf label.
    • Create overall customer-friendly presentation of product per management direction by coordinating product placement and set-up of promotional product displays, and ensuring the blocking and facing of all product sections.
    • Ensure compliance to all Blick company policies and procedures, loss prevention initiatives, and operational controls.
    • Coordinate management team by creating weekly staff assignment lists.
    • Interview candidates for all part time positions, and assist with the hiring process of all other positions.
    • Resolve associate issues and concerns with other members of the management team.
    • Coordinate merchandise set-ups, ensuring that all displays, promotional signage, and layout changes are in compliance with company guidelines
    • Create weekly staff schedule.
    • Assist the General Manager with House Account-related sales and activities. Assist the Assistant Manager(s) with the coordination of store marketing events, and ordering seasonal products relating to back to school/class lists

    Supervisory Responsibility:

    • The Assistant Manager directly and indirectly supervises personnel within their store location.


    Physical Demands:

    • Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds while using the appropriate lifting techniques and following all safety rules.
    • Prolonged walking, standing, and climbing ladders.


    • Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.

    • High School graduate. College preferred, but not required.
    • One year of previous retail management experience or one year of employment with Blick.
    • Demonstrated superior sales performance throughout career.
    • Computer literate, including Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.

    General Requirements:

    • Possesses the ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
    • Possesses excellent communication skills.
    • Is willing and able to relocate for future opportunities if required.
    • Is willing to work a minimum of two nights per work week. Must close Friday and Saturday a minimum of one weekend per accounting period, and a minimum of one Sunday per accounting period.
